The Red Room at The Connaught, sandwiched between the cigar shop on mount street and the Connaught hotel behind was devoid of natural daylight, this posed a hospitality lighting design challenge which we relished.
Inspired by the client’s Louise Bourgeois collection, we transformed it into an intimate art collector’s haven. Stained-glass windows by Sir Bryan Clark, back-lit with colour-shifting LEDs, add depth and dynamism and focus.
False illuminated windows tune the light throughout the day to reflect the circadian rhythm to create the illusion of natural daylight. A hand-crafted pendant and pink onyx bar create warm focal points.
Louise Bourgeois art is highlighted with framing projectors, while a softened cove expands the perceived space by grazing light down the walls to create a shadowless light. The oxblood snug offers intimacy with an antique Murano chandelier and concealed lighting.
