Light design concepts and consultation

We go to great lengths to understand the aesthetic desired, tailored it to suit each client individually, considering the flow of the building, highlighting key architectural features and vistas and architectural constraints and quirks, no design is ever the same.

Light engineering

We orchestrate all technical aspects of lighting installations to ensure optimal Integration within architecture, performance, efficiency and ongoing maintenance. We consider all aspects of light management with biophilic design and human centric lighting to promote good health and wellbeing for all living things and with 25 years of experience we understand and can choose the best possible equipment and control available to ensure longevity within budget.

Architectural integration

We work closely with the team on each project priding ourselves on great communication between disciplines and swift problem solving. We ensure, where possible, lighting is concealed and integrated within the fabric of the building to ensure it is not the luminaires that are the star but the very interior that is enhanced unless it is a specific decorative feature. Light sources are expertly chosen to enhance carefully chosen materials and colours throughout interior and exterior spaces.

This tailored, human-centric approach ensures each design, from residential dwellings to commercial destinations does not disappoint and enhances lives.

Bespoke light designs

Every project and client is unique which is what makes lighting design so interesting for us, we harmoniously integrate the engineering quietly to ensure the end user is not hampered with issues they would prefer not to be dealing with. We create lighting designs that evoke feelings of balance and calmness, enhancing your mood, or create an intimate or desired atmosphere in restaurants and other spaces.

Biophilic and human-centric illumination

Our lighting design process

As artisans of light, we use lighting to create a narrative within your space. Our detailed light design process, grounded in years of expertise, ensures each project becomes a harmonious blend of light and space, designed to elevate and inspire.

Here’s a glimpse into the design journey we embark on together encompassing all disciplines:

Concept design

First, we engage in a collaborative dialogue with you and your associated team to gain an insight into what you are aiming to achieve, the design principles of the architectural and interior design and to understand your desired style. We then look at what makes the space special and how you want people to feel and use each space while considering a narrative that ties in all spaces. Following this sketch plans of the proposed lighting design supported with inspirational images, sketch elevations and basic luminaire choices will be provided to describe the design intent.

Detailed planning and documentation

Once the concept stage has been agreed and amended to suit all constraints and all parties involved and we have fully understood your vision, our team will convert the design to digital format as a tender set for the electrical contractor. We will integrate the light engineering into the design to ensure simple but effective solutions are achieved through careful planning and meticulous architectural detailing, communication between disciplines, innovative lighting techniques and carefully chosen luminaires to fit within the budget but avoiding compromising the design as a whole. We will orchestrate all aspects to create a truly immersive and transformative experience.

Implementation and management

On-going management following the tender stage to completion including:

Checking all wiring has been implemented correctly (1st fix)

Checking that all luminaires have been installed correctly and in the correct locations and the design has been followed correctly (2nd fix).

– This ensures that any deviation by the team on site is captured and corrected in good time to ensure the very best results.

Commissioning

Prior to project handover all luminaires will be commissioned ensuring they are directed to the correct locations and lighting scenes will be commissioned within each space to be demonstrated to the client on completion and tweaked as necessary to perfect the design and associated lighting scenes.

In use stage

Once the client has lived within the space for one year an additional snagging will be carried out and issued to the team to ensure all is working correctly and any amendments to light scenes requested by the end user are captured and included.
